Attorney With Hunter Biden Ties Nominated to DOJ Post

President Biden recently nominated a lawyer connected to Hunter Biden, his son, to be assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy.

Hampton Dellinger formerly worked alongside Hunter Biden. Dellinger was a partner at law firm Boies, Schiller, and Flexner from 2013 until last year.

Dellinger is a graduate of Yale Law School and is a former deputy attorney general in North Carolina. After leaving Boies, Schiller, and Flexner, Dellinger founded Hampton Dellinger PLLC.

Hunter Biden worked at Boies, Schiller, and Flexner from 2010 until 2017.

That position helped the younger Biden gain Ukrainian energy company Burisma as a client in 2014. He then took a lucrative position on the company’s board during his father’s vice presidency.

Hunter Biden wrote about his involvement with Burisma in his recent memoir “Beautiful Things.” In it, he said, “I brought Burisma to Boies, Schiller, Flexner.”

Biden further explained that “they wanted to see whether Burisma was legit or plagued with corruption before taking them on.”

According to the Department of Justice, the Office of Legal Policy’s job is to “serve as the primary policy advisor to the Attorney General.”

This nomination is the second time the president has chosen a nominee with solid ties to Hunter Biden.

Possible conflict of interest

President Biden previously appointed Nicholas McQuaid, a former federal prosecutor, as acting chief of the Justice Department’s criminal division at the beginning of his administration.

The Justice Department is under increasing pressure to guarantee no conflicts of interest with either McQuaid or Dellinger.

McQuaid worked as a partner at the law firm Latham & Watkins alongside Hunter Biden’s defense lawyer Christopher Clark. McQuaid only left the law firm when he took the job at the Justice Department.

Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, including those with Burisma, and his tax filings are being scrutinized. Recently a report surfaced that Hunter Biden’s inner circle has scrambled to construct a story to explain two years of unpaid taxes from Burisma income.

Authorities also are investigating Devon Archer, Biden’s business partner, and have subpoenaed many of Hunter Biden’s emails from his seized laptop and his tax records.

Biden’s son has been under criminal investigation since 2018, both for his ties to Burisma and for financial dealings with China.
