China just threw out a major warning to the United States declaring there would be “grave consequences” if Ukraine were allowed to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). They even alluded to the threat of nuclear war.
“All European countries will tremble under the shadow of a possible nuclear war,” Beijing declared in a Sunday editorial in the state-owned Global Times.
“In that case, there will be no security for anyone, not for Ukraine, and not for the world,” the newspaper wrote. “Instead of pursuing resolutions to end the conflict, Washington has, over and over again, displayed that the US is charging toward the other direction—fanning the flames of war.”
This comes on the heels of President Volodymyr Zelensky renewing his call to be allowed into the alliance. It also comes after Russia announced a bid to annex four regions in Ukraine.
Jake Sullivan, the US national security adviser, was asked about Ukraine’s NATO member and Zelensky’s request to fast-track Ukraine’s membership. He said that now is “not the right time” and the application should be looked taken up at a different time.
China went so far as to say that the Western alliance should leave Eastern Europe completely.
This recent threat from China is added to some stern warnings aimed at the United State’s support of Taiwan. It is becoming more clear that China and Russia plan to come together against the West.
President Biden spoke strongly recently saying that “America’s fully prepared with our NATO allies to defend every single inch of NATO territory. Every single inch.”
Vladimir Putin raised new concerns about nuclear war when he said he was “not bluffing” when he said Russia was prepared to use nuclear weapons to defend its territory.
He also said any country that wants to “live by the rules of the United States” are “political masochists.” This rhetoric comes while Putin is announcing the annexation of four Ukrainian regions. He declared that Russia will use all the power and all the means they have at its disposal to defend the new land from any attacks by the West, Ukraine, or their allies who strive to liberate the world.
Putin bragged in front of his Moscow subjects that millions of people had “opted” to become vassals of Russia, but what took place was a sham referendum forced with troops carrying automatic weapons who went door-to-door with clear glass ballot boxes forcing people to vote.
Putin charged that the new regions included people who will be Russia’s forever, and the subjects gave their leader a standing ovation inside the Kremlin grand Georgian Hall. He also challenged both Ukraine and the West to abandon all hope of retaking the regions, while repeating his threat to use all forces to defend the new territories.
Putin said that the West wants to see Russia as a colony and an “unfree society,” and that westerners have gone from issuing sanctions to conducting “terror attacks” in his Kremlin speech.
Putin is attempting to make his people believe that it was the West who sabotaged the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines because they wanted to destroy the European energy infrastructure. He said that those who profit from it have done it, but he did not name a specific country.
We Putin firing up his masses with anti-American lies and China warning the West about its support of Ukraine.
In the editorial that appeared in the Chinese government’s “Global Times,” warned that there would be no security for anyone if Washington continued to charge forward fanning the flames of war.
These are troubling times as China and Russia rattle their swords together against the West.
