Elon Musk Declares the New York Times is a ‘Lobbying Firm for Far Left’ after Reportedly Ignoring ‘Twitter Files’ Story

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, recently called the New York Times  a “lobbying firm for far-left politicians.”

The wealthiest man in the world made comments on Twitter in response to the claim the news site didn’t run any articles about Musk’s release of the “Twitter Files” the day after they were released on Twitter. Matt Taibbi, a Substack journalist, revealed a series of emails and documents — with content apparently given by Musk — that Twitter staff was debating whether or not to censor the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story before the presidential election in 2020. Twitter ultimately did.

Numerous emails released showed that Twitter staff engaged in emergency censorship of the laptop story despite the apprehension of high-level employees. In one email, Yoel Roth, then serving as the Twitter Global Head of Trust and Safety, acknowledged their reasons for squelching the story were shaky, but citing “lessons of 2016” encouraged it anyway.

Taibbi also posted other documents in his thread that revealed “that Twitter staff had open channels with powerful third parties, including members of both political parties, so that they could flag tweets they deemed problematic and have them ‘handled.’”

Mainstream media ignores story

Due to the liberal bias of the majority of the Twitter staff, more requests to censor posts from Democrats and liberals were fulfilled more, according to Taibbi. Mainstream media did not acknowledge the story, despite the significance of Twitter’s liberal bias being exposed.

According to Alex Christy of the Media Research Center, all three major news networks, CBS, NBC, and ABC, did not mention the story in their nightly broadcast.

Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick.com, pointed out that The New York Times did not mention the story the morning following the release of the “Twitter Files.”

“There is not one single article about @elonmusk or the @twitter email release last night on @nytimes app this morning,” Travis tweeted.

His tweet quickly caught the attention of the head of Twitter, who condemned the paper swiftly. “That is because The New York Times has become, for all intents and purposes, an unregistered lobbying firm for far-left politicians,” tweeted Musk.

The exchange marked the second time Elon Musk has recently called foul on the Times. The Tesla CEO and billionaire previously called the Times out on an article called “Hate Speech’s Rise on Twitter Is Unprecedented, Researchers Find.”

In response, Musk tweeted two words, “Utterly false.”
