Incoming border czar Tom Homan said Monday that he isn’t concerned with what Democrats, like Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas, have to say about his qualifications for his position in President-elect Donald Trump’s new administration.
Over the weekend, Crockett appeared on MSNBC to question Homan’s capabilities, saying he “doesn’t know what he’s doing” when it comes to stemming the tide of illegal immigration.
“Look, I made this clear: I don’t care what they say about Tom Homan because I’ve done this job for a long time,” said Homan to “Wake Up America.” “I think the president got a mandate in November. He called me to help fix the border. And look, under the Trump administration, we had the most secure border in my lifetime. We’re going to get that secure border again because a secure border saves lives, and no one can argue that.”
“Under the Biden administration, we got a historic number of aliens [who] died crossing this border, nearly 4,000,” said Homan. “A historic number of Americans, over a quarter-million, died from fentanyl that comes across the border. Their policies are killing Americans in record numbers. They’re killing aliens in record numbers. President Trump is going to secure this border and save lives. Just not of Americans but of aliens, too. A secure border saves lives. That’s exactly what we’re going to do and start on day one.”
Homan: “Not anti-immigration” but “anti-illegal immigration”
Homan stressed he’s “not anti-immigration” but said he’s “anti-illegal immigration because of the tragedies I’ve seen in my lifetime,” including the 31% of women who make the trip north through the cartels and are assaulted sexually.
“While you and I are talking right now … women are being raped by members of cartels as part of their payment coming across that order,” said Homan. “A child will likely die tonight on our border, and there’s a 600% increase in sex trafficking across this border. So, women and children will be sex trafficked in this country. [The Biden administration] lost track of over 340,000 children that they brought to this country and released to unvetted sponsors.”
During her interview with MSNBC, Crockett predicted a “rude awakening on all sides” once President-elect Trump takes office and empowers Homan to take action on the open border.
According to Homan, the rude awakening already happened “in November at the election.”
“How many young women have to be raped and murdered and burned alive?” Homan asked. “How many MS-13 and Tren de Aragua [gangs] have to be in our major cities committing crimes against U.S. citizens? How many angel moms and dads do we have to have in this country that lost their children at the hands of someone who wasn’t supposed to be here?”
“Look, we can do much better than they did on accident,” said Homan of the Biden administration. “I mean, we’re going to secure the border. We’re going to run the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen. …I don’t know what congressman — whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent — would be against removing threats to public safety from the community. That should be a nonpartisan issue. But that’s exactly what we’re going to do, and we’re going to do, and we’re going to do it without an apology.”
