Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping, will meet with President Joe Biden today in San Francisco to discuss economic agreements, that Xi has no real intention to honor.
Preparing for the visit has thrown the city into a clean-up frenzy. The poverty, tent cities, drug addicts, public nudity, and public defecation may be okay for taxpayers and residents of the city to endure, but allowing the communist dictator to see how Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom runs the state of California was not acceptable.
According to a New York Post report, “Drug addicts, dealers and homeless who have plagued San Francisco’s downtown have miraculously disappeared this week as the city cleans up for a huge international event.”
This could lead to the conclusion that the city’s defilement was a conscious choice.
This choice put beauty, cleanliness, and respect for the city’s law-abiding citizens at the bottom of the list.
If you cannot reach that conclusion or refuse to, you either have blinders on or have never visited the once-golden city and inhaled the stench that now pervades San Francisco sidewalks.
If the CEO of Gump’s luxury SF department store, John Chachas, had invited Xi to tour the city instead of contacting the mayor and governor, the open-air toilet surrounding his flagship store might have been cleaned up.
Chachas’ letter to the leaders would have been an apparent wake-up call for any respectable local or state leader, but we are talking about the once-Golden State of California, so his pleas fell on deaf ears.
Chachas did not hold back in his letter, writing, “An Open Letter to Governor Newsom, Mayor Breed and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors: Gump’s has been a San Francisco icon for over 165 years. Today, as we prepare for our 166th holiday season at 250 Post Street, we fear this may be our last because of the profound erosion of this city’s current conditions.”
He then detailed specifics that the letter’s recipients are well aware of but don’t care enough to work to solve.
“San Francisco now suffers from a ‘tyranny of the minority’ — behavior and actions of the few that jeopardize the livelihood of the many. The ramifications of Covid policies advising people to abandon their offices are only beginning to be understood.”
“Equally devastating has been a litany of destructive San Francisco strategies, including allowing the homeless to occupy our sidewalks, to openly distribute and use illegal drugs, to harass the public, and to defile the city’s streets. Such abject disregard for civilized conduct makes San Francisco unlivable for its residents, unsafe for our employees, and unwelcoming to visitors from around the world,” he continued.
The letter then urged the “leaders” to clean the sidewalks and streets, clear the homeless camps, and enforce the law. The response from those in office was to ignore the business, which has been paying taxes and creating jobs since 1858.
The politicians are not embarrassed by the condition in the city when they are pointed out because you don’t count. They are arrogant, uncaring, and unresponsive — similar to Xi.
It took a visit from a dictator whose country has a plethora of slave labor camps to finally make an effort.
