Rep. Adam Schiff Doesn’t Want to Play by His Own House Rules

What a difference an election makes. The tables have turned in the House of Representatives so now those who were being hunted are hunting, and the liberals are certainly the prey.

For years, the Democrats have been focusing on “investigations” focused on the GOP, and it did not matter how trite the issue was. Since the November midterm, the Biden administration and their allies in Congress have had to look over their shoulder and face the music.

This new reality led to a pretty intense interaction on CNN Sunday morning. Rep. Adam Schiff, who has spent much of his career chatting on cable news about Republican “scandals,” was asked if he would comply with a GOP House subpoena.

His answer was short and not very surprising.

“If you are subpoenaed by Republicans when they take over, will you comply?”

Schiff’s response, ”We’ll have to consider the validity of the subpoena.”

Are you kidding me? The man has spent years treating subpoenas as though they were sacred and completely authoritative. And now that he might face one, suddenly he has decided that you can make a judgment call on whether or not it has any validity.

It seems that he gets to make the call on these kinds of issues; he makes the rules for the House.

CNN’s Dana Bush did not even push back against Schiff’s hypocrisy. This is the same network that cried on air when Donald Trump won in the 2016 election. They are not going to give a fair and balanced response to Schiff’s silliness.

Don’t forget that it was Schiff who destroyed Steve Bannon on “contempt of Congress” charges. He made this stand just a few months ago. In fact, the congressman from California was so intense that he put a video out on his website bragging about his role in the process. While speaking with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Schiff called Bannon’s indictment for not responding to the House subpoena a “powerful message.”

Schiff has been willing to allow respect for the rule of law to fade away and now his true character is being revealed. He does not have any business being near power and he has been propped up in his position with these baseless investigations of his political opponents.

Schiff should be one of the first people to receive a subpoena from the new GOP majority, and he should have to play by the same rules that he set up during the Trump years.

Rep. Schiff is already running scared of Republican Reps. Kevin McCarthy and James Comer. McCarthy is seeking to become the Speaker of the House and Comer will be the incoming House Oversight Committee chair. They both have not supported recent congressional investigations, including former President Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia and the investigation into the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Schiff said that both of these GOP leaders will do “nothing but carry Donald Trump’s water.” He also lashed out at McCarthy saying that the California representative had “no core set of beliefs.”

“McCarthy’s problem is not with what I said about Russia,” Schiff said, “McCarthy’s problem is that he cannot get to 218 without Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz. And so he will do whatever they ask,” he continued. “Right now, they are asking that I be removed from my committees and McCarthy is willing to do it.”

Schiff also warned that he would “misrepresent his record” and the records of other House members whose House seats he wants to remove to maintain the number of votes needed.
