Rep. McCarthy Slams Biden for ‘Dividing the Nation’ in Speech Assailing MAGA Republicans

Kevin McCarthy, House Republican Leader, said President Biden is “dividing the nation instead of uniting it” and warned the president and Dems that they could “get a very big wake-up call” on Election Day. McCarthy’s comments came ahead of a speech where Biden slammed MAGA Republicans and “election deniers.”

The commander-in-chief delivered an attack on the GOP at a Democratic National Committee event inside Union Station in Washington, D.C. The speech came only blocks from the Capitol and six days before voters determine the balance of power in Congress in the midterm elections.

In a recent interview, McCarthy, who represents California, said the American people “aren’t buying” what he referred to as “Biden’s deflection.”

“He is dividing the nation instead of uniting it at a time that we need to unite,” McCarthy said. “And he is doing that because he can’t talk about the policies where people are hurting — the pain of the cost of living and inflation and what they have caused.”

“He is trying to deflect, and the American people aren’t buying it because every single day, they go to the store, and they can’t afford to buy things; they worry about the future of their children,” added McCarthy.

Biden warned Americans saying there is a “whole lot at stake” on Election Day and that on the ballot are “350 [election] deniers…on the Republican ballot everything from state house races to secretaries of state, to governors, to senators.”

The president’s DNC speech expanded on his attacks and attempted to frame the looming midterms as critical for democracy. In contrast, Dems try to grasp power in the Senate and House of Representatives. In his primetime address back in September, Biden slammed “MAGA Republicans,” insisting they “do not respect the Constitution.”

In September’s controversial speech, Biden said, “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love” said Biden.

If Republicans take the majority in the House, McCarthy could serve as speaker and says Biden continues to focus on the “wrong issues.”

“This country needs solutions, it needs healing, and it needs an uniter — and none of this sounds like what he is doing,” said McCarthy. “He is just focusing on the wrong issues instead of focusing on what the American people are asking.”

Rep. McCarthy emphasized Americans are “looking for a check and balance because they have watched what one-party rule has done” and pointed out Democrats’ “lack of listening and their lack of focus on the needs of the American people.” McCarthy added, “I think the president is missing, so, maybe in six days, he’ll get a very big wake-up call to focus on the issues that the American public needs and deserves.”

According to recent polls, voters are not buying the president’s rhetoric amid a 40-year-record high inflation. Although President Biden’s approval rating has rebounded slightly recently, an October Fox News poll discovered that Republicans are leading Democrats among voters on the congressional preference ballot leading up to next week’s November midterms.

In the same poll, 89% of voters said they were highly concerned about higher prices and inflation, while 74% said the same about the country’s lingering political divisions.
