Senator: Lack of Hunter Biden Laptop Coverage Shows Media ‘Thoroughly Corrupt’

Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., recently said that the mainstream media barely touches on the now-confirmed Hunter Biden laptop story shows that they are “thoroughly corrupt.”

In a recent interview, Johnson reiterated that they widely panned the laptop story as fake news in 2020.

Johnson’s comments came amidst a New York Times admission that the laptop is authentic. Twitter banned The New York Post from Twitter for reporting about the younger Biden’s laptop before the 2020 presidential election.

“People familiar with the investigation and prosecutors had examined emails between Mr. Biden, Mr. Archer, and others about Burisma and other foreign business activity,” wrote the Times.

“Those emails were obtained by The New York Times from a cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop. The email and others in the cache were authenticated by people familiar with them and with the investigation.”

Sen. Johnson said he was surprised that the Times admitted its error.

“Quite honestly, my jaw dropped when I heard that The New York Times is actually admitting that the laptop was authentic. Didn’t everybody already realize that? Haven’t we known that for well over a year?”

“To me, it just indicates how thoroughly corrupt the mainstream, legacy, corporate media is. How they’re completely in the tank of the radical left, of the Democratic Party.”

Johnson demands apologies

Johnson says people should be “outraged” at The New York Times for only recently confirming the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

He also demanded apologies from the 51 former U.S. intelligence experts he said had cast doubt on The New York Post’s reporting of the story.

“I am just amazed that The New York Times just now came to the conclusion that the Hunter Biden laptop was genuine,” said Johnson. “Where have they been? That was pretty obvious within a week or two of The New York Post’s stories.”

Senator Johnson was referencing the Post’s October 2020 reports on Hunter Biden’s foreign business connections and dealings in connection with Burisma, a Ukrainian energy firm, while his father, the current president, was vice president.

“The FBI had to know that. They wouldn’t tell us when we were offered the laptop. I couldn’t take it because I had to do my due diligence. The FBI knew. We reached out to the FBI. They wouldn’t tell us it was genuine. They should have. But they didn’t. People should be outraged,” emphasized Johnson.

Hunter Biden left the laptop at a Delaware computer repair shop. It contained a trove of emails detailing his business relationships in China and Ukraine, which implicated President Biden.

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, an attorney for then-President Donald J. Trump, obtained the younger Biden’s laptop and turned it over to the Post. After looking into whose emails were found on the hard drive, the Post then authenticated its contents by interviewing Biden acquaintances and the computer shop owner.

According to a report by The New York Times, Hunter Biden is facing a wide-reaching federal probe into his business dealings and tax filings.

“The New York Times is finally, quietly, covering its tracks. Where are all the other apologies? Where is the apology from the 51 intelligence operatives?” asked Johnson.

Senator Johnson is the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which investigated Hunter Biden’s $50,000-a-month job with Ukraine and Burisma.

The committee’s report, issued in December 2020 by the Senate Finance Committee and Johnson’s panel, concluded the Obama administration ignored “glaring warning signs” when Burisma put the younger Biden on the board.

The committee also concluded that Hunter Biden’s job “was problematic and did interfere in the efficient execution of policy with respect Ukraine.”

Since the Times acknowledged the laptop’s existence, an increasing number of Republicans around the country are demanding a new investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

Both Facebook and Twitter began censoring The Post’s stories and exposes on the younger Biden shortly after they were published. Senator Johnson has also accused Google of manipulating its search terms around the 2016 election to push millions of voters to Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate. However, Johnson said the mainstream media protects and covers up for Big Tech.

“But the mainstream media covers it up. They won’t allow this information to be revealed to the American public. They have unbelievable power. And they are using that power,” said Johnson. “That’s just the truth. They’re not going to let the truth out.”
