Trump to Visit U.S.-Mexico Border as Harris Bows to Pressure to Also Come

Former President Donald Trump has announced that he will be traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border as the border crisis remains virtually ignored by the Biden-Harris administration.

“I have accepted the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott to join him on an official visit to our Nation’s decimated Southern Border on Wednesday, June 30, 2021,” Trump said.

“The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in U.S. history and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S. history. It’s an unmitigated disaster zone.”

“What Biden and Harris have done, and are continuing to do on our border, is a grave and willful dereliction of duty. My visit will hopefully shine a spotlight on these crimes against our Nation — and show the incredible people of ICE and Border Patrol that they have our unshakeable support.”

Under pressure, Harris will make a journey to the border on Friday, ahead of Trump’s visit. In addition, the Biden administration this week fired border patrol chief Rodney Scott, a supporter of Trump’s immigration policies.

A worsening situation

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the number of illegal immigrants that have been apprehended at the border in the month of May 2021 has seen a 674% increase compared to May 2020.

“In May 2021, CBP encountered 180,034 persons attempting entry along the Southwest Border,” stated the CBP. “Single adults continue to make up the majority of these encounters.”

In addition to these significant increases is the weakening of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s ability to deport illegal immigrants, according to The Washington Post.

“Under new Biden administration rules curtailing immigration enforcement, ICE carried out fewer than 3,000 deportations last month, the lowest level on record,” reported The Washington Post.

“The agency’s 6,000 officers currently average one arrest every two months. ICE under President Biden is an agency on probation. The new administration has rejected calls from some Democrats to eliminate the agency entirely, but Biden has placed ICE deportation officers on a leash so tight that some say their work is being functionally abolished.”

All of these factors combined are contributing to a massive influx of illegal immigrants not only into the state of Texas, but into other states located on the U.S-Mexico border.
