Whistleblowers told Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., that officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI, ordered agents not to investigate Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” for months because of concerns about possibly influencing the 2020 presidential election.
According to the senator, “individuals with knowledge” of the younger Biden’s case told his office that orders from “local FBI leadership” intentionally slowed the investigation. “While I understand your hesitation to investigate a matter that may be related to an ongoing investigation, it is clear to me based on numerous credible whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” claimed Johnson in a letter to Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
FBI officials told employees, “You will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop,” according to whistleblowers.
“These new allegations provide even more evidence of FBI corruption and renew calls for you to take immediate steps to investigate the FBI’s actions regarding the laptop,” added Johnson.
Senator Johnson is not the only lawmaker alleging recent evidence of malpractice from the FBI. Ranking Senate Judiciary member Chuck Grassley said that additional whistleblower allegations reveal a “deeply rooted political infection” within the FBI.
In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, dated August 17, the Iowa Republican senator demanded an accounting for the reported political bias and its influence on high-level investigations, most notably from the FBI’s Washington, D.C., office.
“Starting on May 31, 2022, I’ve written three letters to you regarding political bias that has infected the FBI’s Washington Field Office,” wrote Grassley. “Two of those letters provided specific and credible allegations based on numerous whistleblowers that have approached my office with information that one can only conclude is indicative of a deeply rooted political infection that has spread to investigative activity into former President Trump and Hunter Biden.”
Investigation into Hunter Biden heating up
Meanwhile, the younger Biden was spotted in public for the first time since the recent Biden family’s big vacation. The Biden vacation coincided with a report by Fox News Digital that Hunter Biden and his longtime business partner Eric Schwerin were actively working behind the scenes in 2016 with a former Biden congressional campaign adviser’s business partner on Chinese business deals while also soliciting donations for the adviser’s congressional campaign.
Additionally, an ongoing investigation that began in 2018 into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs has reached a “critical stage,” according to Fox Digital News. Officials are looking into whether to charge the president’s son with possible foreign lobbying violations and various tax violations.
